“Health of a nation is wealth of a nation” a fact very well known to all carrying a much deeper meaning. Road safety is one such issue that is known to all but not followed leading to injuries, trauma and more importantly death in many cases.
Road safety is a measure that reduces the risk of life of anyone who is not just on the road in a vehicle but also those walking around. It is ensuring mobility in a smooth manner for all. Following a simple sign while moving around saves lots of lives. It's not just one person who gets injured or dies in a road accident but its an entire family, loved ones, dear one whose life gets affected.
In India itself approximately 1500 accidents take place everyday out of which 450 lead in death all because of that one person who failed to understand the simple fact of following the rules.
Reckless driving, jumping red lights, changing lanes, not waiting for pedestrian walk, parking anywhere , etc., may all sound thrilling but in one way or the other lead to an accident.
Road safety education is as essential as any other basic skills of survival. It involves a high complex unit of many factors viz., technical and physical even social and cultural. Moreover it is a result of collective and systematic efforts of government, non government agencies and the society. The Government organises different programs regarding road safety but are they enough. Unless the law enforcing agencies become stricter with offenders accidents are prone to happen.
As a responsible citizen of our country we must ensure hat not only do we follow these rules but also make others aware about them and the consequences of not following.
